Reduce + Reuse + Recycle

I am committed to recycling responsibly. We are lucky to live in Austin, a city that has made it fairly easy to recycle. With the city's one-cart program, I recycle paper, plastic, cardboard, and glass. My family and I also recycle plastic bags at HEB, styrofoam and bubble wrap at Cycled Plastics, and aluminum foil and shredded paper at Ecology Action, and batteries at Radio Shack.

Additionally, I compost all food waste. I support local businesses when possible. I work on my home property, so I am no longer commuting. I use natural gas for heating in the winter, though supplemented by radiant electric heaters. In 2011, I plan to purchase a new air-conditioning system that will save electricity and be as green as possible.

Laundry & Cleaning Products

As you can imagine, I do a lot of laundry for my business. While I cannot reduce the amount of laundry necessary, I can reduce the impact my laundry has on the earth.

I use an environmentally-friendly detergent that I purchase in bulk. It is made from plant-based chemicals, concentrated, and free from phosphates, dyes and bleaches. It is not tested on animals.

To remove oils and a non-chlorine based bleach product that I think is amazing: Bio-Kleen™ Chlorine Free Oxygen Bleach Plus. Using grapefruit seed extract and natural fabric and water conditioners, this bleach boosts the detergent without leaving harmful chemicals behind in our waste water.

Inside my office I use environmentally gentle cleaning products from companies such as Seventh Generation, Dr. Bronner's, and Mrs. Meyer's.

Massage Products

My standard massage products are Biotone® Organic Massage Cream or Dual Purpose Massage Cream. The main ingredients include Almond Oil, Arnica Extract, Ivy Extract, Aloe Vera Oil, Vitamin E, and Vegetable Glycerin. I purchase the cream in gallon-size recyclable containers to reduce the amount of packaging I buy throughout the year.

Upon request I am also happy to offer Biotone's massage oil blends, and I am also happy to use any product that you would like to bring to your session.

Since 1993 Young Living Essential Oils have set an incredibly high standard of purity in essential oils. I use these oils because they are organic, therapeutic grade, and powerful. Your mind and body will benefit from the use of these oils. Please let me know if you are allergic or have an aversion to any particular oils.
